Making Good Happen for People with Disabilities
Goodwill’s Supported Employment (SE) Programs provide services to support part-time and full-time paid employment for adults with developmental disabilities, referred by the San Diego Regional Center in El Centro or the California Department of Rehabilitation. The program offers specialized job training and individually tailored support FREE of charge to eligible participants.
Goodwill’s Supported Employment Program is designed to provide a high level of integration with nondisabled co-workers on the job.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Eligible participants are evaluated and supervised by a Job Coach (Employment Training Specialist) and are served individually or in a small group. Program participants must be able to meet the essential functions of the program/job with or without reasonable accommodations and work in the United States legally.

GROUP SERVICES
In partnership with the El Centro branch of the San Diego Regional Center, Goodwill offers a specialized training program tailored to the needs of adults with developmental disabilities. The FREE Supported Employment Group Program of Goodwill Imperial County provides an opportunity for all willing individuals with disabilities to become employed within an integrated work setting.
Goodwill is committed to maintaining a stable environment where people with disabilities are empowered to maximize their employment potential by overcoming their barriers to employment. Participants in this program receive compensation for their work directly from the employer, which in many cases is Goodwill.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Program participants must be referred by the El Centro branch of the San Diego Regional Center. Participants must also be able to meet the essential functions of the program/job with or without reasonable accommodations and work in the United States legally (proof of citizenship or immigration status required).
EACH INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANT IS PROVIDED THE FOLLOWING SERVICES:
- Accompany participants for interviews
- Job placement assistance
- Employment services (job coaching) for intensive support
- Jobs in integrated settings, employer selection
- Individual Habitation Service Plan (IHSP) development and review
- Goal setting
- Job-task analysis
- Coaching on grooming/hygiene
- Training on employer expectations
- Safety training
INDIVIDUAL PLACEMENT
In partnership with the Imperial Valley branch of the San Diego Regional Center, Goodwill offers a specialized training program tailored to the needs of adults with developmental disabilities. The FREE Supported Employment Individual Placement (IP) program provides an opportunity for all willing individuals with disabilities to become employed within an integrated work setting.
Goodwill is committed to maintaining a stable environment where people with disabilities are empowered to maximize their employment potential by overcoming their barriers to employment. Participants in Goodwill’s Individual Placement receive compensation for their work directly from their employer at the prevailing wage for the specific position they perform and additionally receive all the benefits and entitlements offered to all other employees in the same position.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Program participants must be referred by the El Centro branch of the San Diego Regional Center. Participants must also be able to meet the essential functions of the program/job with or without reasonable accommodations and work in the U.S.A. legally (proof of citizenship or immigration status required).

INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
In partnership with outside employers and organizations, Goodwill Imperial County offers a unique program tailored to the needs of adults with developmental disabilities. The Paid Internship Program gives participants an opportunity to experience employment in an internship setting for a short period of time. This will help participants experience work life and determine the work elements they prefer. Program goals include the acquisition of experience and skills needed for future paid employment, typically in the same job field or industry. Internships can be traditional, or in the form of apprenticeships, including self-employment. The funds provided for the internship are used for wages (minimum wage or higher) as well as the related payroll costs. Each individual client is eligible for up to $10,400.00 per year in an internship and could receive more than one internship.
